Create a composition, highlighting 4 cities or places that are distinctly different in culture, politics or natural environment. (Amsterdam, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Saigon; arctic, desert, jungle, savannah; North Korea, Switzerland, Mexico, Egypt, as just a few examples)
The composition is to be created on Bristol paper and measure 8.5 x 11." You should divide the design into 4 areas (i.e. 4 squares, 4 horizontal rectangles, 4 triangles, 4 random shapes) but these sections do not have to be equal in size.
In this assignment, we are to demonstrate an understanding of color organization presented in class.
You will have to create a color scheme for each section, representing the 4 different geographic areas.
However, to make the assignment more complex, I want you to pick 4 colors (with extended value/ intensity changes), and by using those 4 colors in different proportional quantities, you will have to communicate a sense of those 4 places.
You will also have to print the text "4 PLACES", and the names of the 4 places you select, in one typeface (a bold sans serif is recommended). You can organize and manipulate this type to your liking.
The "images" need to be abstract and should not literally represent falling leaves, blistering sun, to mention only a few clichés. As always, do consider and employ, design elements and principles as discussed in class, to create a compelling powerful composition.
